Position Summary: Housekeeper
Bromley Hall is seeking a dependable, energetic, and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our team. As one of the largest Private Certified Housing communities serving University of Illinois students, we take pride in providing a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents and guests.
Our Housekeeping Team plays an essential role in delivering an exceptional resident experience by maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the building. We are looking for an individual who enjoys working independently, takes pride in their work, and is committed to outstanding customer service.
This is a full-time position with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Housekeeper performs a variety of cleaning and sanitation duties in both resident and common areas while helping ensure Bromley Hall remains clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. This position reports to the Housekeeping Supervisor and Building Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Clean assigned resident rooms, suites, bathrooms, hallways, lounges, study rooms, stairwells, offices, and other common areas.
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and sanitize floors and surfaces.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, showers, sinks, mirrors, fixtures, and other high-touch areas.
- Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners.
- Restock restroom and housekeeping supplies as needed.
- Make beds and prepare rooms for new resident arrivals during turnover periods.
- Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or damaged property promptly.
- Operate housekeeping equipment such as vacuums, carpet extractors, floor scrubbers, and other cleaning equipment safely.
- Follow established cleaning procedures and health and safety standards.
- Assist with deep cleaning projects during academic breaks and summer conference seasons.
- Work cooperatively with other departments to provide outstanding service to residents and guests.
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude while interacting with residents, parents, guests, and coworkers.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous housekeeping or custodial experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Occsionally lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and reach overhead throughout the workday.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment safely.
