Job Description:
The Substitute Bus Driver safely transports students to and from school, field trips, and other activities in the absence of regular drivers. This role requires strict adherence to traffic laws, district policies, and safety protocols. The driver is responsible for ensuring student safety and maintaining order on the bus at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pick up and drop off students safely and on time.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintain order and ensure student safety during transport.
- Communicate with school staff and transportation supervisors as needed.
Qualifications:
- Possession, at time of appointment and during service in this classification, of a valid NYS Class B CDL with “P” and “S” endorsements.
- Candidates must be at least 21 years of age and complete training requirements specified by the NYS Department of Education pursuant to 8 NYCRR Education (A) Part 156. Clean driving record and successful completion of required training.
- Ability to manage student behavior calmly and effectively.
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and professional.
