Brockton Public Schools is pleased to advertise the position of Associate Director of Equity and Excellence. The Associate Director of Equity and Excellence is responsible for guiding efforts and creating opportunities to define, assess, and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, educational employment opportunities, and cultural proficiency.
Minimum Qualifications:
•Bachelors Degree required; Master’s Degree in relevant field preferred
•Second language fluency or competency preferred
•Demonstrated success implementing systemic initiatives and managing change within a complex organization
•Experience in the development and maintenance of collaborative relationships with institutions of higher education to provide for
professional development and cultivation of programs that assist in the recruitment and retention of high-quality educators
•Demonstrate prior experience developing and implementing successful DEI initiatives in a large organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Facilitate decision-making around strategic district priorities
•Develop ongoing and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop and communicate a DEI plan
•Seek to promote a culture of equity by continually reviewing the existing curricula and preparing for new curricula focused on
antibias and cultural proficiency in collaboration with the Office of Teaching and Learning
•Collaborate with the Human Resources department to develop and implement additional initiatives for the recruitment and
retention of staff of color
•Plan and lead professional development throughout the year to address needs around issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion
•Confer with stakeholders to ensure that the initiatives, policies, and practices of the district are grounded in research and best
practices
•Manage and lead interest groups districtwide while overseeing identity-focused affinity groups
•Serve as a strategic advisor to the Superintendent’s cabinet, with a lens on anti-racist/anti-biased management, including
support with special programs
•Provide support and consultation to leaders in assessing challenges and opportunities and implement responsive strategies
•Serve as a regular and active listener to employees, students, and community members to both gain insight into current
concerns and assess the effectiveness of the district’s approaches to equity, inclusion, antiracism, and anti-bias strategies
•Demonstrate the ability to create, implement, and adhere to federal, state, and local laws and policies
•Consult with the Office of Unified Student Services regarding incidents involving bias and discrimination
•Other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Unified Student Services
