An NYC-based womens contemporary fashion brand is seeking a Director of Production in New York to lead and strengthen a growing production and product development organization. This senior leadership role will oversee a combined team, bring greater structure and accountability to day-to-day operations, and guide execution across an increasingly complex global supply chain. The position offers the opportunity to build process, support and develop existing talent, and partner closely with design as the company continues to scale.
Responsibilities
- Lead the production and product development functions across the business.
- Manage, mentor, and support the current Production Manager while establishing a strong leadership structure for the broader team.
- Drive operational rigor, clear timelines, and consistent follow-through across all stages of production and development.
- Oversee production execution across multiple regions, including Peru, Los Angeles, India, and New York.
- Partner closely with design and development counterparts to align product intent, development milestones, and production readiness.
- Create and refine processes that improve visibility, accountability, and cross-functional coordination.
- Identify and address operational challenges tied to a multi-location production network.
- Ensure projects move forward efficiently, with strong attention to deadlines, communication, and issue resolution.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for production strategy, balancing hands-on execution with team leadership.
Requirements
- 10-12 years of relevant experience in production, product development, or a closely related function within fashion, apparel, or luxury consumer goods.
- Strong experience across both domestic and international production environments.
- Deep product development expertise in addition to production management experience.
- Proven ability to lead teams and develop talent within a growing, operationally complex organization.
- Experience managing production across multiple vendors, regions, or manufacturing partners.
- Strong organizational and execution skills, with the ability to move work forward and solve problems in real time.
- Comfort working closely with creative and design teams in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.
- A practical, hands-on leadership style with the judgment to build structure without creating unnecessary complexity.
- Based in or able to work from New York, with the flexibility to coordinate across global time zones as needed.
