What are the responsibilities and job description for the Central Office Technician Level3/4 position at BroadStaff, LLC?
Broadstaff is seeking experienced Optical Technicians Level 3 and Level 4 to support nationwide AT&T/ASIT projects involving Ciena optical transport equipment installation, integration, testing, modification, and turn-up.
This is a 100% travel position supporting AT&T central offices, transport facilities, colocation sites, huts, and other network environments. Candidates must have prior AT&T experience and be familiar with AT&T TP76300 installation standards and best practices.
Per Diem:
- $178/day for lodging and meals
Although the traveling is nationwide, this position is only for canididates residing in Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Arkansas, Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, or Georgia
Central Office Technician Qualifications
- Level 3: 2 years of telecom installation experience or equivalent training.
- Level 4: 3 years of telecom experience with the ability to work on live equipment and circuits.
- Prior AT&T experience is required.
- Strong knowledge of AT&T TP76300 standards and practices.
- Experience with Ciena optical transport equipment.
- Knowledge of DWDM, OTN, and Ethernet transport.
- Experience using OTDR, fiber scopes, BER testers, VOMs, and cable test equipment.
- Understanding of AC/DC power systems, including -48V.
- Experience with fiber jumper routing, power, grounding, and bonding.
- Ability to read and follow MOPs, JIMs, circuit drawings, SOWs, and engineering documentation.
- Must own telecom insulated hand tools.
- Must be willing to travel 100% nationwide, including 3-4 consecutive weeks.
- Must pass background and drug screening.
Central Office Technician Responsibilities
- Install, remove, modify, and integrate Ciena optical transport equipment.
- Perform equipment testing, circuit testing, integration, and turn-up.
- Follow MOPs, JIMs, Job Change Orders, and engineering documentation.
- Perform quality inspections and resolve drawing or scope discrepancies.
- Install and route fiber jumpers and maintain proper cable management.
- Perform power, grounding, and bonding activities according to AT&T standards.
- Support live network environments while protecting customer service.
- Support power transitions, battery installations, and live circuit work as required.
- Lead or guide lower-level technicians when assigned.
- Maintain AT&T quality, safety, documentation, and installation standards.
- Communicate professionally with customers and project teams while meeting strict schedules.
