The Broaddus Companies are seeking candidates for a Human Resources Generalist managing the overall payroll and benefits administration of our companies (Broaddus & Associates, Broaddus Construction, Broaddus Planning and Broaddus Defense) along with human resources operations support. This role ensures all employees are paid on time while overseeing benefits administration, employee relations, onboarding support, and compliance with labor regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Payroll Processing: Administer and process accurate, compliant end-to-end payroll cycles, ensuring accuracy in tax withholdings, wage garnishments, and retroactive payments.
- Benefits Administration: Manage enrollment, vendor billing, and reconciliation for health insurance, PTO, and retirement plans.
- Compliance & Auditing: Ensure strict adherence to local, state, and federal labor laws, tax codes, and reporting requirements (FLSA, FMLA, ACA, IRS regulations).
- Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding compensation questions, benefits utilization, PTO calculations, and general HR questions.
- Compliance & Auditing: Ensure strict adherence to local, state, and federal labor laws, tax codes, and reporting requirements (FLSA, FMLA, ACA, IRS regulations). Manage annual 5500 audits for retirement plans and worker’s compensation.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. 3–5 years of progressive experience in compensation, benefits, and payroll management preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, Paycom, ADP) and Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of current employment legislation, payroll tax laws, and benefits compliance.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional numerical accuracy, a high degree of confidentiality, and strong cross-functional communication.
- Certifications: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or SHRM/HRCI credentials preferred.
Candidates should have strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to communicate and work effectively with internal staff, outside consultants, and senior administration within the client organization. Sound judgment and sensitivity to issues of policy and process are critical. This position requires the ability to work effectively as a member of a team, be a self-starter, manage multiple priorities, and complete work under pressure of deadlines.
This is a full-time salaried position operating from our Austin, Texas offices. The salary level is competitive and commiserates with candidate experience.
