Position Summary
· The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing all aspects of fiber optic construction operations, including project execution, field performance, and management of Project Managers and construction teams. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with client specifications and regulatory requirements. The Director of Operations drives operational excellence, resource optimization, and scalable growth across all fiber deployment activities.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
· Lead and manage all Project Managers & team member operations across multiple markets/projects
· Oversee and mentor Project Managers, Supervisors, and field inspectors
Project Oversight
· Ensure all projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget
· Monitor project performance metrics, schedules, and financials (P&L accountability)
· Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
· Maintain strong relationships with clients.
Team Management & Development
· Build, lead, and develop high-performing teams
· Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and leadership development
· Drive accountability across all levels of the organization
Financial Management
· Oversee budgets, forecasting, and cost controls for all projects
· Analyze financial reports and implement corrective actions as needed
· Improve margins through operational efficiencies and vendor management
Safety & Compliance
· Promote and enforce a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards
· Ensure all work adheres to federal, state, and local regulations
· Oversee quality control and assurance programs
Client & Stakeholder Relations
· Serve as the primary escalation point for major clients
· Ensure customer satisfaction and long-term partnership growth
· Participate in contract negotiations and strategic planning
Qualifications
Required
· 8 years of experience in telecom or fiber optic construction
· 5 years in a senior leadership or operations management role
· Proven experience managing multiple project teams and large-scale deployments
· Strong knowledge of fiber construction methods (aerial, underground, splicing, testing)
· Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management
· Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred
· Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field
· Experience working with major telecom providers (e.g., FTTH, backbone, OSP projects)
· Familiarity with permitting, ROW, and utility coordination
· PMP or similar certification
