ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

• Driving new program initiation, conducting technical due diligence activities on external opportunities and providing overall research leadership to the Kentucky BioProcessing sites in Owensboro, KY, San Diego, CA, and in future Venice, Italy 
• Identifying, evaluating and leading existing and new projects towards IND, with a particular focus placed on immune-oncology 
• Integrate input from various functional areas across the organization to create high quality, clear and concise development plans to be integrated into the external Kentucky BioProcessing pitch for business development and financing 
• Work closely with the key stakeholders as well as cross-functional teams including commercial, deal finance and transactions to ensure effective communication, efficient decision-making for business cases and to help support completion of transactions with our external BD team in a timely manner 
• Translate overarching strategies into various tactical plans that help achieve immune-oncology-specific goals 
• Represent the Research strategy at partnering meetings to identify and triage external assets and opportunities related to immune-oncology

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Strong R&D scientific and business and strategic acumen and excellent communication skills 
• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 15-years relevant experience 
• Strong scientific reputation in drug discovery and clinical development 
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively to executive-level audiences and manage multiple workstreams simultaneously 
• Proven leadership abilities in a R&D environment 
• Possess a strong understanding of rare disease drug discovery, development and regulatory processes to drive opportunity decisions 
• Ability to think critically and creatively to anticipate and solve problems 
• Ability to navigate and be successful in a fast-paced, highly-matrixed environment 
• Demonstrated understanding of BD deal making 

BENEFICIAL

• An advanced degree (Masters/PhD/MD) with a minimum of 10-years relevant experience 
• Extensive experience in pharmaceutical R&D, demonstrating international experience in multiple cultures and R & D environments

• 401(k) plan that offers opportunity to save on pre- and post-tax basis up to 50 percent of eligible compensation.
