We are looking for a Director, Talent Development

SENIORITY LEVEL: Senior Level

FUNCTION: Human Resources

LOCATION: Winston Salem, NC

This role is part of the Talent, Organizational Effectiveness and Inclusion subfunction.  A key component of the company’s success depends on its ability to develop its talent base and ensure a strong talent pipeline. In this position, the Director, Talent Development will lead efforts to implement a proactive Learning and Development strategy with new, creative tactics, and delivery models that will give RAI a competitive edge. The Director, Talent Development will be responsible for leading long-term talent development vision and pivotal initiatives while delivering against bold annual performance goals. The company is looking for a dynamic, creative, and passionate inspiring leader to join its Human Resources team. This position will create and implement an innovative learning & development framework that optimizes RAI’s robust culture and drives business results. This role ensures that development is fit for purpose at across all levels of the company.  The Director will lead and develop its own team of employees and handle outside vendors and resources. This Director must be forward thinking and have the ability to expeditiously execute sophisticated projects and programs. The successful candidate must be able to generate positive outcomes by building partnerships across the organization that set shared expectation and integrate various points of view.

Reports to: Vice President, Talent, Organizational Effectiveness & Inclusion

Reporting Level: 4 Direct Reports, Team of 7.

What you will be accountable for:

  • Leads all efforts for training and development of a highly engaged and diverse talent base across the organization
  • Develops and implements innovative development strategies to optimize a robust diverse culture
  • Develops and implements innovative development strategies to address high potential employees needs to attain the highest altitude possible in their careers
  • Create a framework for development to ensure leadership, coaching, technical and business acumen are embedded across the business
  • Develop, source and execute state of the art plans for a portfolio of learning opportunities available for employees in a manner that is most appropriate for different learning styles, work locations and work schedules
  • Create and demonstrate strong networks to identify resources and ground breaking tools to accelerate learning
  • Works with HR Business Partners and the business functions to create functional development strategies by understanding business needs and translating those needs into creative learning programs and experiential opportunities
  • Ensures performance of all 3rd party resources are to agreed standards

Can you bring depth and breadth in the Talent Development space, but have experience and interest to do much more? 

Essential experience, skills and knowledge

  • 10 yrs of experience in Talent Development or HR Business Partnering with proven depth of experience in Learning & Development.
  • At least 3 years managing a team
  • Experience in fast paced, global organizations requiring an ability to operate successfully amidst change and transformation
  • Understanding of Talent and Learning & Development landscapes, bringing a network of providers / solutions a must
  • Ability to navigate complex organizations
  • Development and delivery of end to end learning and development architectures
  • The successful candidate will have proven experience in developing collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization. This leader must have the passion, energy and intellectual curiosity necessary for a fast-paced, growth-driven environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree - preferably in Human Resources, Organizational Effectiveness or related field
