Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all tools and materials are prepared and sterilized according to aseptic techniques. Prepare treatment rooms by setting up necessary equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices, while adhering to infection control protocols. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) accurately, ensuring proper positioning and safety measures in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, documenting treatment details with precision and confidentiality. Assist with chairside procedures by providing vital signs monitoring, medical documentation, and supporting the dentist with dental terminology knowledge during complex treatments. Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment by following infection control standards and sterilization procedures for all dental instruments and equipment. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow as a dental receptionist, and handling medical coding for billing purposes.
Requirements
Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures and pediatric dentistry is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry, aseptic technique, anatomy knowledge, and infection control practices. Experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is essential; familiarity with Epic or other medical documentation platforms is a plus. Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and medical records management is required. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while maintaining patient comfort; certification in radiography preferred. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly using dental terminology suitable for patients of all ages.
