Job Title: Sr. Oracle DBA

Location: Tennessee (Hybrid)

Salary Range: $140,000 - $170,000 base 15% annual bonus

About the Opportunity

• Our client, a leading global organization, is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to support and manage mission-critical database environments. This is a senior-level role responsible for designing, optimizing, and maintaining large-scale database systems that support enterprise applications and operations.
• This position will also serve as a key partner to development teams, providing guidance on database architecture, performance optimization, and best practices to improve scalability, reliability, and overall system performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle databases across multiple environments
• Plan and manage database storage and capacity to support future growth and scalability
• Create and maintain database objects, structures, and data models
• Implement and manage database security, including user access and role-based controls
• Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and reliability
• Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies (Oracle RMAN/Data Guard, MongoDB replication and backup)
• Implement data archiving and lifecycle management solutions
• Analyze and document database infrastructure and technical requirements
• Partner with development teams to optimize queries, schemas, and application performance
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, providing root cause analysis
• Mentor team members on SQL, PL/SQL, and MongoDB best practices
• Continuously improve database standards, automation, and operational processes
• Participate in on-call support and provide occasional off-hours support as needed

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Experience

• 5 years of hands-on Oracle DBA experience in enterprise environments
• 5 years of experience with high availability solutions (Oracle RAC, Data Guard, replication, failover)
• 5 years of advanced SQL and PL/SQL development and performance tuning
• 5 years of experience supporting development teams with database design and optimization
• 3 years of hands-on MongoDB administration would be a big plus (replica sets, sharding, backups, monitoring)
• 3 years of Linux administration experience (scripting, performance tuning, automation)
• Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or similar
• Experience with database monitoring tools (OEM, SolarWinds/DPA, DataDog, Grafana, or similar)
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

Technical Skills

• Deep expertise in Oracle technologies (RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN)
• Strong knowledge of MongoDB architecture (replica sets, sharding, WiredTiger, security)
• Advanced SQL and PL/SQL proficiency
• Strong Linux system administration skills
• Understanding of networking concepts as they relate to distributed database systems
