The aide assists the van driver in safely transporting clients to and from Day Program. An aide is needed during transportation with students and/or individuals that have behavioral and/or medical needs. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for redirecting behaviors and physical safety of individuals while in transportationAssist in loading and unloading special needs individuals and to monitor their ride to and from Day ProgramAssist in managing the seating of the passengers so that everyone is safe and secureBasic first aid Basic record keeping Oral and written communication skills Follow Health and Safety regulations Attend safety meetings High School diploma or equivalent REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONSMust be patient and courteous with others, including, but not limited to parents, coworkers, and the general publicSitting for extended periods of time Hearing and speaking to exchange information Reaching, pulling, and pushing to open van doors or windows Reaching overhead, above the shoulders or horizontally Ability to monitor passengers Should be in good physical condition to be able to secure wheelchair students (including tie downs), strapping a child into a car seat or booster seat, hooking up a child in a safety vest or fastening a seat belt Must check inside vehicle daily, front to back for any personal belongings left behind WORKING CONDITIONSOutdoor environment (Seasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditions may apply)Motor Vehicle
