What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Generalist position at BrightPath?
HR Generalist — Onboarding & Employee Experience
BrightPath • New Hope, Minnesota • Full-time, on-site • $65,000-$80,000
People are our services. This is the seat that makes sure every one of them starts strong.
-BrightPath is a team of dedicated professionals committed to providing person-centered, data-driven services to people with adversities.
-BrightPath was established to enable individuals the freedom to pursue joy by providing quality home and community based services for vulnerable adults, minors, and individuals with adversities. -We employ roughly 175 employees across 6 services, growing, and running on EOS. Every person we hire becomes part of the care we deliver — which means the employee experience isn't a side function here, it's the pipeline for our mission.
-We're hiring a HR Generalist to own that experience end-to-end: from the moment a candidate accepts an offer, through their first shift, through every status change, to the day they leave.
-This is a generalist seat in the truest sense — broad, hands-on, and trusted with some of the most compliance-sensitive processes in the organization. You won't be siloed into one function. You'll be the throughline that connects recruiting, scheduling, compliance, and HR systems into one coherent experience for every employee.
What you'll own
- Full-cycle onboarding and employee experience — you own the handoff the moment recruiting hands you a hire, through I-9 Section 2 verification, new hire paperwork, and orientation delivery. You're the first real relationship a new employee has with BrightPath as an employer, and you make it count.
- Coverage and schedule execution — you publish schedules and administer the master staffing pattern and managers will adjust scheduled shifts as needed including filling shifts. When a staffing pattern needs to change, you're the one who catches it and escalates it to leadership — not the one redesigning it solo.
- Compliance-critical screening — you own background studies through Minnesota DHS (NETStudy 2.0) and motor vehicle record checks, insurance verification, etc.
- Employee lifecycle and systems integrity — you own accurate employee records in the HRIS and scheduling system, from status changes through offboarding administration, so nothing falls through the cracks at any point in someone's tenure.
- Benefits enrollment and administration — you own routine benefit enrollment and administration, making sure employees actually get what they're entitled to, correctly and on time.
What we're looking for
- Meaningful experience in HR operations, onboarding, or workforce coordination in a shift-based, high-compliance environment — healthcare, human services, senior living, hospitality, logistics, or similar.
- Comfort owning compliance-sensitive processes exactly, not approximately — background studies and I-9 verification have rules, and precision is non-negotiable.
- Systems-minded — you're fluent across an HRIS, scheduling software, and spreadsheets, and you'd rather fix a broken process than route around it.
- A genuine people-first instinct — you see onboarding and employee experience as relationship-building, not paperwork.
Nice to have
- Minnesota DHS 245D or comparable regulated human services experience.
- Experience with Minnesota background study processes.
- Experience with CBIZ HRIS, Jazz ATS, or When I Work Scheduling System
- Experience delivering new hire orientation.
Details
- Compensation: $80,000 health, dental, PTO, 401k employer match
- Reports to: Director of People & Workforce Strategy
- Location: New Hope, MN. On-site 80%, remote 20%
- Requirements: successful completion of a Minnesota DHS background study is required for employment.
