Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to spearhead electrical and I&C engineering initiatives across heavy industrial, process, and onshore energy facilities. In this role, you will lead the full engineering lifecycle—from initial concept and field evaluation through detailed engineering, procurement support, and final commissioning.
The ideal candidate blends technical mastery in I&C systems with commercial acumen, ensuring designs meet strict industry codes, client specifications, and project budgets.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Design & Engineering Execution
- Deliver comprehensive engineering packages, including detailed calculations, electrical layouts, 3D modeling, and full design documentation for complex industrial and oil & gas facilities.
- Formulate core engineering deliverables: instrument loop diagrams, I/O lists, load lists, cable tray/conduit routing, grounding plans, junction box layouts, and hazardous area classification drawings.
- Calculate equipment ratings and sizing parameters; generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Material Takeoffs (MTOs).
- Enforce rigorous quality assurance by reviewing drawings and models for constructability, code compliance (NEC, NFPA, API, IEEE), and alignment with client-specific standards.
Project Leadership & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Partner closely with mechanical, civil/structural, and process engineering teams to align system interfaces and proactively resolve design conflicts.
- Conduct site visits and field walkdowns to evaluate existing conditions, verify installations, and gather vital engineering inputs.
- Support commercial project management by monitoring engineering hours, tracking budget expenditures, and contributing to cost estimates, scopes of work, and formal proposals.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a direct technical liaison for clients, vendors, and fabricators, ensuring clear communication, prompt issue resolution, and lasting business partnerships.
Candidate Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited institution (or equivalent).
