General Summary:
Responsibilities include maintenance of the current quality system, review of customer quality requirements, effective problem containment and resolution, working with customers and suppliers to resolve concerns, performance of internal quality audits, assist in supplier auditing and development efforts, and assist plant personnel as required. Travel is required in this position to both MTI and customer facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Attend customer meetings as needed. Customer visits to include following up on customer rejects and concerns.
- Perform scrap reviews and report findings on a standardized format.
- Work on problem resolution teams or special projects such as launch teams, problem solving teams, Six Sigma teams, Lean Manufacturing, etc.
- Assist in the training and development efforts of hourly personnel on quality specifications.
- Assists in investigation of product defects and recommendations of modifications in product, process and/or quality standards as warranted.
- Establish and maintain a good working relationship with customers, suppliers, and plant personnel.
- Monitor performance of the internal quality systems and reports findings with recommendations to the Quality Manager and appropriate plant personnel.
- Assist in the documentation and submission of PPAP for new and changed products.
- Assist in maintaining the Corrective / Preventive Action System.
- Help in the implementation of “Best Practice” processes and procedures.
- Assist Quality Manager as directed.
Ideal Candidates -
- In depth working knowledge of PPAP, APQP, DOE, SPC & 8D
- Knowledgeable in the ISO 9001:2008 / IATF 16949:2009 standards and their requirements
- Proficient in GD&T and blueprint reading
- Working knowledge of quality systems, practices, and principles
- BS degree in engineering or related field preferred or Professional Engineering certification with at least 3 years professional experience or At least 7 years of quality engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing setting
- Experience with engineering related computer systems/capabilities preferred (2D CAD, CAE, Creo, MAGMA, etc.)
