About the Role

As Senior Director of Business Development, you will play a pivotal role in shaping BrightOrg’s future by expanding our client base, deepening strategic relationships, and building a sustainable, scalable business development engine.


Responsibilities


  • Own and drive new client acquisition efforts aligned with BrightOrg’s growth strategy, market focus, and current delivery capacity.
  • Build, manage, and maintain a qualified pipeline of opportunities across target industries and priority accounts.
  • Collaborate with BOS Leaders on proposal development, pricing strategy, and contract negotiation to support successful deal closure.
  • Achieve and exceed annual new business revenue targets through disciplined pipeline management and effective consultative selling.
  • Develop and sustain senior-level relationships with prospective clients and strategic partners to support long-term growth.
  • Represent BrightOrg in external forums, industry events, and relationship-building opportunities to strengthen brand awareness and market presence.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor during early client engagements and transition phases to ensure alignment, confidence, and continuity.
  • Partner closely with leadership to ensure a strong and effective handoff from sale to delivery.
  • Collaborate with marketing to shape messaging, contribute to thought leadership, and support lead-generation efforts.
  • Provide insights on market trends, client needs, and competitive positioning to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Model BrightOrg’s leadership characteristics and core values in all internal and external interactions.


Qualifications


  • A graduate degree is preferred in Business, Management, Marketing, or a related field.


Required Skills


  • Demonstrated consultative sales leadership within professional services or management consulting environments, with the ability to navigate complex client needs and position tailored solutions that create long-term value.
  • Strong business acumen, including a deep understanding of relationship-driven sales cycles, deal structuring, pricing considerations, and the financial dynamics of consulting engagements.
  • Proven ability to influence, collaborate, and build credibility with senior leaders, internal stakeholders, and client executives, fostering trust-based relationships that support successful outcomes.
  • Advanced relationship management with client, team, and other stakeholders; having the ability to persuade and/or negotiate effectively while building trust.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate market insights, client needs, and competitive intelligence into clear, actionable growth strategies and business development initiatives.
  • High degree of personal integrity, humility, and commitment to service, consistently demonstrating BrightOrg’s core values in both internal leadership and external client interactions.
  • Highly self-directed and disciplined, with the energy, resilience, and motivation required to pursue growth opportunities, manage ambiguity, and sustain momentum in a dynamic consulting environment.
  • Critical evaluation: analyzes organizational issues/opportunities; synthesizes complex data/information to reach agreement in ambiguous or difficult situations; maintains advanced knowledge of data, research, benchmarks, and business metrics; identifies leading indicators of outcomes; assesses impact of changes to organization.
  • Able to effectively communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing; listens actively and empathetically to views of client and other stakeholders; demonstrates understanding of others’ perspectives; provides thoughtful and constructive feedback.
  • Leader level consultancy competencies including presentation, data visualization, storytelling, stakeholder management, influence & action (Note: BrightOrg Services subscribes to the Institute of Mgt Consultants Competency).


Preferred Skills



  • 10 years of experience in business development, consulting, or professional services sales, with progressive responsibility and a strong understanding of consultative, relationship-driven growth models.
  • Proven track record of closing complex, high-value engagements, including navigating longer sales cycles, multi-stakeholder decision processes, and customized solution design.
  • Experience partnering closely with service delivery teams in a professional services or advisory environment, ensuring alignment between client expectations, proposed solutions, and successful execution.
  • Extensive experience solving, framing, and communicating complex ideas and demonstrating advanced strategic thought leadership.
  • Proficient with Project Management frameworks and methodologies, and masters of PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.


Pay range and compensation package


Travel Requirement, ~50-75%
