Summary/Objective
This Payroll Representative position will be responsible for processing facility payroll, cutting checks, calculating and reporting retirement benefits, submitting state and federal tax deposits, prepare quarterly and annual payroll tax documents, and have basic knowledge of ACA and PBJ requirements. This position will report directly to the Payroll Supervisor and work out of the Coralville, Iowa office but may require working on-site at our Corporate location in Muscatine, Iowa.
Essential Functions

- Utilize your knowledge and training of the Wellsky software daily to process payroll for your designated clients.
- Comply with ACA and PBJ reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner according to your supervisors’ specifications.
- Process and prepare quarterly and annual payroll tax documents such as 941, state withholding, SUTA, FUTA, and W-2’s.
- Familiarize yourself with, and regularly use the BCG Chart of Accounts and the Wellsky payroll codes.
- Process payroll and tax payments of the assigned clients with little to no errors.
- Utilize the accounts payable software to enter invoices and process checks as accurately as possible.
- Ensure the highest degree of customer service and conduct yourself professionally with clients and other team members at all times.
- Successfully interpret and follow the weekly payroll schedule and deadlines as assigned by your supervisor.
- Comply with individual customer requests and accurately compound and produce external reports.
- Escalate customer and/or account concerns to your direct supervisor for troubleshooting.
- Other projects and/or duties as assigned.
Cross Training Requirements:
- This position is responsible for cross training with other Payroll Representatives to the point of covering all Essential Job Functions of the position.
- This position may be responsible for cross training with AP Representatives to the point of covering all basic responsibilities in the case of their absence.
Education & Experience
The following are the minimum requirements for the position, which may be satisfied by an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- An associate degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field is a minimum requirement. If an applicant does not have the required education, two years of experience in the field is appropriate to qualify for consideration for employment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The following are the minimum requirements for performing the essential functions of the position.
- Wellsky Software experience preferred
- QuickBooks experience preferred
- 941, state withholding, SUTA, FUTA, and W-2’s experience preferred
- Capable of working effectively, independently, and in a team environment
- Self-motivated, goal, and detail oriented
- Flexible and adaptable to a changing work environment
- Able to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time efficiently
- Basic proficiency with financial duties pertaining to business operations of accounts payable
- Efficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Flexibility pertaining to client needs and requests
- Actively listen for total comprehension
- Ask questions that enhance the understanding of a certain topic
- Relay information and/or instruction in a descriptive and understandable fashion in both written and verbal forms
- Demonstrated high level of attention to detail
- Basic-level, reasoning abilities are necessary to understand and follow basic instruction from supervisory positions either in writing or verbally.
