Overview

Brightline’s Program Liaison will support staff in our direct services with frontline communities, particularly with Spanish-speaking households, and air quality monitoring work in San Francisco. This is a temporary, part time role (6 months) with the potential for extension-estimated 5-10 hours/week. Fluency in written and verbal Spanish is required.


About the Position

Brightline Defense is an environmental justice (EJ) non-profit that works to promote sustainability in low-income communities and communities of color. Brightline’s Program Liaison will support Brightline staff in our direct services with frontline communities, particularly with Spanish-speaking households, and air quality monitoring work in San Francisco. 


This role will help assist with a variety of program and organizational needs, but primary projects identified for this role are as follows:


Primary Responsibilities

  • Support Brightline’s work with a monolingual Spanish-speaking community organizing and tenant empowerment programs, based in San Francisco. This includes notetaking during community leadership meetings, creating presentation materials, supporting workshops, taking photos, sending out reminders to leaders about upcoming meetings and assignments due, etc 
  •  Translate environmental education materials and work with Brightline’s Program Manager and other staff in delivering air purifiers and siting air quality sensors for the community. 
  • Organize and support calls as well as meetings with community partners and government agencies related to air quality and the environment. 
  • Research, analyze, and draft reports, recommendations, and memorandums to support Brightline’s air quality monitoring programs and organizing with frontline communities. 
  • Provide additional program support as needed-including but not limited to attendance at off site community meetings/conferences/other events, air quality projects/studies, supporting community air purifier distributions
  • Assist with grant development and reporting and other related tasks as needed


Needed Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Fluency in speaking and writing in Spanish is required for this position. 
  • Ability to travel to San Francisco and work in person with community members and organizers who work with Brightline. 
  • Capacity and desire to work with diverse communities and neighborhoods in San Francisco. 
  • Strong polished interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. 


Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • A.A. or B.A/B.S in related field or related experience
  • A valid CA driver’s license
  • Experience in data analytics
  • Experience with ArcGIS, Python or other coding language
  • Experience working with community-based organizations and or low-income communities
  • Familiarity with Adobe software (Photoshop, Illustrator), Canva and other design software is a strong plus


Salary range

$30 - $35 per hour based on experience


Location/Schedule: Estimate 5-10 hours/week, Hybrid- in person work with community meetings/events conducted in person, evenings and weekends as needed
