BIM Technician

Summary

The BIM Technician primary responsibility will be to support the development and coordination of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes specifically related to electrical systems within construction projects. Working closely with electrical engineers, designers, and other stakeholders, you will utilize BIM software and tools to create accurate and detailed electrical BIM models.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Electrical BIM Modeling: Develop accurate and detailed 3D electrical BIM models using specialized software (e.g., Autodesk Revit) based on electrical design drawings and specifications. Ensure adherence to project standards, electrical codes, and industry best practices.
• Clash Detection and Coordination: Collaborate with other trades (architectural, structural, and MEP) to integrate their respective models with the electrical BIM model. Perform clash detection analysis to identify and resolve conflicts between different building systems.
• Electrical Systems Coordination: Assist in the coordination of electrical systems within the BIM environment. Collaborate with electrical engineers and designers to ensure accurate representation and integration of electrical components.
• Construction Documentation: Generate electrical construction drawings, plans, sections, and details from the BIM model. Collaborate with the design team to ensure accurate and coordinated electrical documentation.
• Revit Family Creation: Develop and maintain a library of Revit families and components specific to electrical systems. Create custom families and parametric models to accurately represent project-specific electrical elements.
• BIM Standards Compliance: Adhere to project-specific BIM standards, protocols, and naming conventions related to electrical systems. Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging BIM technologies.
• Collaboration and Communication: Effectively communicate and collaborate with electrical engineers, designers, contractors, and other project stakeholders. Facilitate information exchange, resolve issues, and promote effective coordination of electrical systems within the BIM environment.
• Quality Control: Conduct regular checks and reviews of the electrical BIM model to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Identify and resolve any modeling or documentation errors or discrepancies related to electrical systems.
• Training and Support: Provide training and support to team members on electrical BIM workflows, software tools, and best practices. Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and offer guidance to ensure the efficient use of BIM technology.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest BIM software, tools, and techniques specific to electrical systems. Seek opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity in electrical BIM workflows.

Position Requirements

• Position requires extended hours, which will vary depending on job and site requirements. Each job will require their own specific hours of operation.
• May need to work weekends if business needs require
• Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience as an Electrical BIM Specialist/Technician or related role in the construction industry, with a focus on electrical systems.
• Proficiency in BIM software, such as Autodesk Revit, and other related tools specific to electrical modeling and coordination.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, electrical codes, and standards.
• Familiarity with BIM standards and protocols, including clash detection and coordination processes.

• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and standards.
• Proven experience in managing electrical construction projects.
• Excellent project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and contracts.

Physical & Cognitive Requirements

• Able to lift up to 60lbs. regularly
• Must be able to traverse in all weather conditions and work in extreme temperatures
• Position requires the ability to stand, squat, & reach
• Must be able to stand and walk continuously through shift
• Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
• Ability to exercise precaution in the handling of tools and equipment
• May be exposed to dust, fumes, and odoriferous working conditions
• Crouch, kneel, bend, or stand for long periods of time
• Be subject to motor or machine noise
• Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function

Compensation & Benefits

Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. The Company reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Pay: $24.00 - $37.00 per hour
