Position Summary

The Assistant Clinical Director supports the Clinical Director in overseeing the delivery of high-quality ABA services across assigned regions. This role provides clinical leadership, mentorship, and operational support to Clinical Administrators, BCBAs, and Behavior Technicians while ensuring compliance with payer requirements, BACB standards, and company policies. The Assistant Clinical Director assists with quality assurance initiatives, staff development, clinical decision-making, and cross-department collaboration to ensure exceptional care for the families we serve.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Caseload Support

  • Assist the Clinical Director in providing clinical oversight for assigned regions and clinical teams.
  • Provide clinical consultation and support for BCBAs and Clinical Administrators on complex cases and treatment planning.
  • Conduct parent training, supervision, assessments, treatment planning, and clinical consultation as needed.
  • Review assessments, behavior intervention plans, treatment plans, and reassessments for quality and clinical appropriateness.
  • Collaborate with families, schools, physicians, and other providers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Review clinical documentation to ensure compliance with insurance requirements, BACB standards, and company policies.
  • Monitor service utilization and treatment recommendations to support medical necessity and clinical effectiveness.
  • Assist with case assignments by evaluating clinical needs, geographic location, and BCBA expertise.
  • Provide temporary clinical coverage when needed to maintain continuity of services.

Clinical Administration & Staff Support

  • Support the Clinical Director in supervising and mentoring Clinical Administrators and BCBAs.
  • Conduct regular supervision meetings and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
  • Review productivity reports, utilization metrics, and quality assurance data.
  • Identify barriers to service delivery and collaborate on solutions to improve efficiency and client outcomes.
  • Review incident reports and assist with appropriate follow-up and corrective action planning.
  • Assist with workforce planning, caseload distribution, and staffing recommendations.
  • Provide leadership coverage during Clinical Director or Clinical Administrator absences.
  • Collaborate with Scheduling, Intake, Service Coordination, Training, and Clinic Operations to ensure effective communication and coordinated care.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to departmental initiatives and strategic planning.

Training, Mentorship & Professional Development

  • Assist with BCBA onboarding, orientation, and mentorship programs.
  • Provide training on assessments, treatment planning, goal writing, clinical documentation, and ABA best practices.
  • Support competency development for Clinical Administrators, BCBAs, and Behavior Technicians.
  • Promote ethical decision-making and adherence to BACB Ethics Code.
  • Provide individualized coaching and clinical feedback to promote professional growth.
  • Supervise BCBA fieldwork trainees and review fieldwork documentation for BACB compliance.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Partner with the Clinical Director and Assessment Specialist to ensure treatment plans and documentation meet quality standards.
  • Monitor compliance with payer requirements, state regulations, BACB Ethics Code, and organizational policies.
  • Review client outcomes and assist with quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support internal audits and corrective action planning.
  • Assist in developing and implementing clinical policies, procedures, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification in good standing.
  • Active state licensure where applicable.
  • Minimum of 3 years of insurance-based ABA clinical experience, including supervision of clinical staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience mentoring BCBAs or supervising clinical teams.
  • Strong understanding of payer requirements, authorization processes, and medical necessity criteria.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using electronic medical record systems, preferably Rethink Behavioral Health.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience serving in a Lead BCBA, Clinical Administrator, or Assistant Clinical Director role.
  • Experience with quality assurance, utilization management, and staff development.
  • Experience working across multiple states and payer systems.
  • Experience supporting organizational growth and clinical operations.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid position
  • Salary $90,000 - $100,000 annually
  • Travel may be required for supervision, client services, staff development, leadership meetings, and community outreach.
