Job Title: Electrical & Computer Engineering - CFS Professorial Faculty Posting End Date: January 1, 2026 *NOTE: Last day to apply is Wednesday, December 31, 2025 @11:59 p.m. MST Position Start Date: August 1, 2026 Required Degree: A doctoral degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, cybersecurity, computer science, or closely related discipline is required. The required degree must be completed by the start date. Experience: Research experience commensurate with obtaining a PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering, cybersecurity, computer science, or closely related discipline. Duties/Expectations: The Electrical Engineering Department is seeking highly qualified candidates for multiple tenure track professorial positions. Qualified candidates must demonstrate an eagerness to fully support and participate in the ideals and missions of BYU. Successful applicants will be expected to excel in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, develop a strong externally funded research program, and participate in citizenship and administrative duties both to their academic societies and at BYU. Initial rank will be consistent with qualifications and experience. Background: We seek highly-qualified applicants in cybersecurity (all areas), computer engineering (all areas), and electrical engineering (all areas). The department has state-of-the-art facilities in computing and supercomputing, computer vision, optics, microelectronic fabrication, unmanned aircraft systems, and underwater vehicles. Excellent research programs exist in the department in the areas of FPGA-based computing, high-performance embedded systems, autonomous vehicles and control, robotics and computer vision, high-speed low-power electronics, digital communications systems, signal processing, biomedical imaging, optics, and microfluidics. Successful candidates will be expected to strengthen undergraduate and graduate education and to develop an outstanding research program to complement existing research or to develop new research areas. The department offers BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Cybersecurity, and a PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The Cybersecurity BS degree has been designated an NSA/DHS National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense. BYU students come from all 50 states in the U.S. and the National Survey of Student Engagement placed BYU in the 93rd percentile for level of academic challenge, 91st percentile in fostering active and collaborative learning, and 99th percentile in providing a supportive campus environment. The ACT score for the average entering freshman is above the 90th percentile nationally. BYU is also fifth on the list of U.S. baccalaureate-origin institutions for engineering doctorate recipients. Our students have an exceptional amount of experience in leadership and global settings (the majority of graduating seniors speak a second language and/or have lived in a foreign country for over a year), making them well poised to become global leaders.
