Bakery Specialist
The Bakery Specialist with BYU Bakery is responsible for producing bagels, breads, doughs, and other baked goods for university students, employees, and guests. We are looking for somebody who is excited to be a part of our campus community while helping feed all of the wonderful people calling this campus home or stopping by for a visit!

Bakery Specialist
The Bakery Specialist with BYU Bakery is responsible for producing bagels, breads, doughs, and other baked goods for university students, employees, and guests. We are looking for somebody who is excited to be a part of our campus community while helping feed all of the wonderful people calling this campus home or stopping by for a visit!
What You’ll Do In This Position
- Learn standard bakery procedures.
- Produce bread, bagels, doughs, and other baked goods for the campus dining operations
- Complete training and food safety courses per CSC requirements
- Clean and sanitizing bakery equipment and preparation surfaces
- Supervise part-time and student employees.
- Help with production and or icing of Cougartails during Football Season or when necessary.
What qualifies you for this role:
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
- 1 year full-time equivalent bakery production experience
Physical Effort
- Moderate – Physical effort represented by frequent handling of medium weight objects (approx. 20-50 lbs.) and materials, or use of medium weight hand tools. May require climbing and working from ladders or in awkward positions.
- Periodic exposure to unfavorable conditions because of unavoidable need to be in variable temperatures or wet environments, etc.
- Moderate existing or potential hazards
- Product is kept in freezers. Employee must organize freezer inventory usually lasts 30 min dail. Coats provided
- Employees must lift 50 lbs. to waist. Carrying loads for usually 5 minutes per time, two times per day. Employees should use LMS - proper lifting techniques.
- Employees will scrape dough out of the mixer for 1 hour each day. Employees should use good ergonomic practices
- Employees will operate production equipment: mixers, cookie and cake depositor, sheeter for 40 minutes each day. Proper machine operating procedures must be used to avoid risk.
- Employees will operate ovens for 20 minutes each day. Oven gloves will be provided for protection
- 3 years full-time equivalent bakery production experience
- OR culinary certification/degree from accredited culinary school
