Daily Universe - Audience & Community Coordinator
The Audience & Community Coordinator supports BYU’s journalism program by mentoring students and helping run the Daily Universe newsroom in collaboration with faculty and lab managers. They oversee audience outreach and engagement efforts—like newsletters, social media, events, and partnerships—while guiding students in producing multimedia journalism across news and sports platforms.

What you’ll do in this position:
- Coordinate the outreach, audience engagement and community objectives and collaborations of the Daily Universe, including projects associated with journalism and sports media classes taught by faculty.
- Contribute to Universe innovation.
- Participate in student mentoring.
- Other Universe duties as needed.
What qualifies you for this role:
Required
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field is required, master's degree in journalism, communications or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a professional communications discipline is required.
- Professional proficiency in writing and editing
- Ability to manage reports, applications and tasks on deadline
- Organization of meetings, orientations, tours, fairs
- Interact with faculty, staff and students to achieve common objectives
- Balance multiple tasks on different deadlines
- Passion and desire to learn new things
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, BYU Learning Suite and other software tools
- Ability to work in a stressful, deadline-driven environment
Preferred:
- Proficiency in multimedia journalism, including social media strategy, podcasting, video, photography and design
- Three years of professional journalism experience is preferred.

Typical Starting Pay: $59,000.00 to $75,500.00 annually
