What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor-Quality Control Lab position at Briess Industries?
Job Summary:
Responsible for coordinating of laboratory personnel, Quality programs and resources to achieve needs of the company by the QC department. Acts as liaison between operations, Quality and Management to communicate needs, problems and improvements in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, conduct, oversee employees conducting appropriate quality tests on incoming, production and shipment samples for all Briess divisions according to company procedures. Compile, compute and assure distribution of data from test results.
- Keeps company quality programs up to date and effective by auditing current procedures and investigates, recommends and implements new and improved methods of analysis and Quality programs. Assist in annual quality documentation reviews and 3rd party and customer audits.
- Ensures laboratories obtain accurate and precise data by monitoring performance. Coordinates inter- and intra-lab collaborative studies. Identifies and corrects lab equipment, procedures or training if results are not within tolerances. Coordinates and ensures annual surveillance testing is completed.
- Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the facility and staff in accordance with Company Policy and Procedures.
- Oversees control of release of conforming and non-conforming finished goods.
- Creates annual budget and ensures that lab operations remain within budget. Approve the purchase of laboratory operating supplies, service agreements and new replacement equipment.
- Administers inspection policies under management guidance and exercises judgment in dealing with unusual cases referred by staff. Resolves problems by consulting with laboratory employees, technical service, operations, IT and maintenance as needed.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies. Trains laboratory and operations staff on relevant lab procedures.
- Occasional travel to technical conferences and symposiums may be required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline specialized training in quality and 5 years of experience, or equivalent. Experience in Microsoft Office Suite a plus.
