Bridging Gapss is a community-rooted organization committed to empowering youth and families through compassionate, trauma-informed services. As a provider of the Children’s Long-Term Support (CLTS) Waiver Program, we support children with disabilities in achieving independence, emotional well-being, and meaningful community involvement.
Position Summary
We are looking for a motivated and positive Youth Mentor to provide part-time, one-on-one mentoring services to youth with emotional, behavioral, or developmental challenges. This is a flexible 1099 contract role, perfect for someone who enjoys working directly with children in a supportive, empowering way.
The mentor will serve as a role model, motivator, and support system, helping youth build life skills, self-esteem, and healthy social connections.
Key Responsibilities
- Build a trusting, respectful mentoring relationship with assigned youth
- Provide 1:1 support in the home or community (parks, libraries, recreational spaces, etc.)
- Encourage positive behavior, decision-making, and personal growth
- Support the development of life and social skills
- Help youth identify and work toward personal goals
- Report on activities, engagement, and progress using agency tools
- Communicate professionally with families and supervisors
- Uphold safety, confidentiality, and ethical standards at all times
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- At least 1 year of experience working with youth or individuals with disabilities (personal or professional)
- Passionate about supporting and empowering young people
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
- Must pass background checks and complete required trainings
Preferred Skills
- Experience in youth mentorship, behavioral health, education, or human services
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Culturally responsive and trauma-informed
- Self-motivated and organized with strong time management
Job Type & Schedule
- 1099 Independent Contractor
- Part-Time (Flexible hours — average 5–15 hours/week)
- Afternoon, evening, and weekend availability preferred
- Opportunities for additional hours based on availability and client needs
Supervision
- This position does not supervise others.
Physical Demands
- Regular sitting, speaking, hearing, and computer use.
- Occasional walking, lifting, and bending.
- Must be able to travel for home or community visits.
Work Environment
- Moderate noise; exposure to high-stress or unsanitary conditions during home visits may occur.
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
