Terrific Middle School Science Teacher position beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year with a Charter School in the NYC area. This position will join a highly collaborative and mission-driven school focused on meeting the academic and social-emotional needs of its 400 students. The ideal Science Teacher will have a passion for teaching and providing expertise in science education to a student population impacted by foster care or the child welfare system.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and teach curriculum and lessons that comply with Common Core Standards and meet grade expectations and outcomes
- Provide instruction and expertise in the subject of science education
- Participate in staff development programs and opportunities
- Collect and evaluate academic data to inform lessons and instruction
- Evaluate students progress through a variety of assessments
Qualifications:
- Approximately 2 years of relevant teaching experience in science
- Master's degree preferred, NYS teaching certification is a plus but not required
- Experience in a charter school environment is a plus
- Subject matter expert in science education
- Strong classroom management
- Mission-driven individual, passionate about teaching in underserved communities
