Job Description
The State of Florida is seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator with at least 15 years of combined experience in database administration across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate must demonstrate extensive hands-on expertise with DB2 for z/OS, SQL Server, and Oracle databases, with strong knowledge of mainframe systems, performance optimization, and data recovery processes.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and administer multiple database environments including DB2 for z/OS, SQL Server (2008R2, 2012), and Oracle (10g and above).
- Perform DB2 for z/OS upgrades, catalog maintenance, and sub-system point-in-time recovery.
- Execute database performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization activities.
- Develop, maintain, and execute JCL scripts and automation processes.
- Coordinate with infrastructure and application teams to support production and non-production environments.
- Implement database change management, backup, and recovery procedures in compliance with disaster recovery and security standards.
- Monitor and interpret DB2 and z/OS performance metrics using standard tools.
- Support CA GEN model management, CICS, RACF, ISPF, and z/OS-related components.
- Provide technical planning, documentation, and support for database and system upgrades.
- Participate in verification testing for infrastructure changes and ensure database availability, reliability, and integrity.
Required Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong knowledge and practical experience in the following areas:
Core Database Expertise
- Advanced knowledge of DB2 for z/OS: application integration, performance management, catalog maintenance, and upgrades.
- Solid working knowledge of Oracle database administration, tuning, and integration.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server administration, including SSMS, SSRS, SSIS.
- In-depth knowledge of z/OS, JCL, ISPF, CICS, RACF, and CA GEN.
- Proficiency with ASG Scheduler, IOF, BJS, and AFOPER commands.
- Understanding of z/OS EXITs, started task management, and z/OS platform services.
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery and infrastructure implementation planning.
- Experience with IBI z/OS service support.
- Knowledge of Windows Server environments.
- Familiarity with Azure cloud environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of FDOT Integrated Database Infrastructure and FDOT Financial Management Applications highly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 15 years of combined experience across DB2 for z/OS, Oracle, and SQL Server platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to support and enhance enterprise-level database environments within public sector organizations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
