Position Summary
Bridge Brothers is seeking an experienced Industrial Painter / Sandblaster to prepare and finish steel bridge components. This dual-role position is responsible for surface preparation (sandblasting) and applying protective coatings to ensure our products meet the highest industry standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in both blasting and industrial painting, with a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Operate sandblasting equipment to clean and prepare structural steel surfaces.
Remove rust, scale, and old coatings to achieve required surface profile.
Mix and apply industrial coatings such as epoxy, zinc, and high-performance paints.
Apply coatings using brushes, rollers, or airless spray equipment.
Inspect surfaces and finishes for thickness, coverage, and adhesion.
Maintain and clean blasting and painting equipment regularly.
Follow manufacturer specifications, safety data sheets, and project requirements.
Safely handle and store paints, solvents, and blasting media.
Keep blasting/painting areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety protocols.
Collaborate with the quality control team to ensure all work meets standards.
Assist with other shop duties as needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
2 years of experience in industrial painting and/or sandblasting preferred.
Knowledge of epoxy, zinc, and high-performance coating systems.
Familiarity with surface prep standards and coating inspection practices.
Ability to read and follow drawings, specifications, and safety procedures.
Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Physically capable of working in dusty, noisy environments and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Fast-paced blasting and painting shop environment.
Frequent standing, bending, stooping, and lifting.
Exposure to abrasive blasting dust, paint fumes, solvents, and loud machinery.
PPE required and provided, including respirators and protective suits.
Role Details
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. EST (some weekends as needed)
Overtime: Available as required
Employment Type: Full-time, Non-exempt
