Bridge Brothers is seeking a Design Engineer to support the design, engineering, and execution of custom steel bridge and structural projects from concept through completion. Key Responsibilities
- Support project design efforts from initial concept through fabrication and construction support.
- Perform engineering calculations and assist with structural and foundation design activities.
- Develop and review engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Apply relevant engineering standards including AASHTO, AISC, ASCE, ACI, DOT, and IBC requirements where applicable.
- Collaborate with drafting and detailing teams to ensure drawings accurately reflect design intent and fabrication requirements.
- Work closely with fabrication, project management, and field teams throughout project execution.
- Assist with reviewing shop drawings, submittals, and project documentation.
- Visit fabrication shops and job sites as needed to gather measurements, support installation efforts, and help resolve field issues.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and customers.
- Support continuous improvement of engineering workflows, processes, and project execution.
- Provide technical support related to fabrication, constructability, and project coordination.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering field required.
- 2–5 years of engineering or design experience preferred.
- Experience with steel structures, fabrication, bridge systems, construction, manufacturing, or heavy industrial projects preferred.
- Familiarity with structural design principles and engineering codes such as AASHTO, AISC, ASCE, or IBC is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering, structural, and fabrication drawings.
- Understanding of steel fabrication and construction methods is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Workspace.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- EIT certification is a plus but not required.
- Fast-paced office and fabrication environment.
- Occasional bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Comfortable visiting fabrication shops and construction job sites as required.
- PPE required and provided when in shop or field environments.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, full-time
- Overtime: Available as needed
- Employment Type: Exempt
- Benefits: Eligible after 90 days (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, PTO, and paid holidays)
- Travel: Occasional for project and job site support
