Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Title Clerk / Biller to manage the accurate and efficient processing of vehicle titles, registrations, and deal billings. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in automotive accounting, a deep understanding of Michigan Secretary of State (SOS) regulations, and the ability to seamlessly interface between our sales team and financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deal Billing: Review and verify all paperwork for new, used, and wholesale vehicle deals; calculate profits, sales commissions, and process necessary accounting entries.
- Title Processing: Prepare, verify, and submit accurate title and registration documents to the Secretary of State via CVR (Computerized Vehicle Registration) or manual processing.
- Compliance & Out-of-State Transactions: Handle complex out-of-state titling, tax laws, and lienholder paperwork to ensure complete regulatory compliance.
- Inventory & Schedule Management: Maintain clean accounting schedules for vehicle receivables, lien payoffs, and title tracking; resolve any discrepancies immediately.
- Dealership Support: Assist the finance (F&I) and sales departments with title status inquiries and provide backup support for other office roles as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of experience as an automotive dealership Title Clerk or Biller (strongly preferred).
- Technical Proficiency: Direct experience with dealership management systems (e.g., Reynolds & Reynolds, CDK) and electronic registration platforms (CVR).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of Michigan SOS rules, tax structures, and lien processing.
- Attributes: Exceptional organizational skills, laser-sharp attention to detail, and a team-oriented mindset. Must be able to manage tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
