Position Overview
The Multifamily Estimator is responsible for producing precise estimates and competitive proposals for multifamily projects nationwide. This role directly supports business development efforts across both plumbing and mechanical divisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate estimates and secure multifamily project awards
- Build complete Fly Sheets and ensure proposals align with job requirements
- Recommend value‐engineering options to customers
- Review estimates with the VP of Business Development
- Meet with customers to present and discuss finalized proposals
- Audit contracts, verify scope, and route documents to proper stakeholders
- Support project engineers and pre‐start teams with correct submittals
- Provide thorough project handoff information for pre‐start
- Participate in BDM meetings, record minutes, and track action items
- Identify new project opportunities through news sources, networks, and referrals
- Maintain high‐quality written communication with contractors
- Assist other departments with estimating, design questions, and code interpretation
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Serve as a liaison between contractors and internal teams during preconstruction
- Develop and update builder templates, billing formats, and job copy standards
- Provide ongoing support to builder contract coordinators
Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Solid math skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Independent problem‐solving and critical‐thinking abilities
- High attention to detail and organizational strength
- Ability to accept feedback and adjust work accordingly
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and general office tools
- Resourceful, investigative, and self‐sufficient work style
- High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years of construction or estimating experience, or 5 years of plumbing/HVAC field experience
Schedule & Work Environment
- Monday–Friday, on‐site
- Indoor office setting with moderate noise
- Occasional field visits; no travel required
