Technical Program Manager (TPM)
Location: Onsite at customer office, Bellevue, WA
Engagement Type: Contract
What You'll Do
- Own end-to-end planning and execution for technical programs, coordinating across engineering, product, and stakeholder teams
- Scope projects, define milestones, and manage timelines in an agile/scrum environment
- Partner closely with backend and cloud engineering teams, translating technical constraints into program risk and schedule impacts
- Identify dependencies, blockers, and risks early, and drive mitigation plans
- Facilitate agile ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, retros) as needed and maintain program-level visibility (roadmaps, status reporting, RAID logs)
- Act as a bridge between technical teams and business/product stakeholders, ensuring alignment on priorities
- Drive accountability for delivery commitments without requiring hand-holding from engineering leads
What We're Looking For
Technical Background
- 3 years in a hands-on technical role (Software Engineer, DevOps, Systems Engineer, or Technical Analyst) prior to moving into program/project management
- Backend and/or cloud engineering experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to stay current with modern technology trends and practices (not just "was technical once")
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Solid working understanding of at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Familiarity with modern infrastructure concepts (containers, CI/CD, microservices, IaC, etc.) sufficient to have credible technical conversations with engineers
Program/Project Management
- 5 years in a PM or program manager role, including people or program leadership responsibility
- Proven track record scoping projects, managing timelines, and delivering successfully in agile environments
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills — comfortable operating between engineering and business audiences
