Job Summary
The Food Server is responsible for coordinating their entire station with front- and back-of-the-house personnel to provide a dining experience that exceeds guest expectations. They process guest’s food and beverage orders using the computer system to ensure all items are prepared properly and served in a timely manner. The Food Server ensures that guests are satisfied with the food, service, responds to additional requests, and determines when the meal has been completed. They total bills and accept payment. The Food Server is always well groomed, punctual, courteous, and assumes a pleasant and helpful attitude toward the guest and fellow staff members. Sidework is also a part of this position.
Primary Responsibilities
· Food Service: Food Server is responsible for ordering, picking up and delivering all food and beverage items in the manner prescribed by the Service Manual. An expeditor and/or a back waiter may assist them.
· Knowledge of Food: Food Server must know the method of preparation, ingredients, portion sizes, preparation time, quality standards, taste, appearance, texture, serving temperature, garnish, and method of presentation for all menu items and be able to accurately describe and sell the items to the guests. Must be able to recognize when any of these items is not up to standard and rectify immediately.
· Knowledge of Beverages: Food Server must know the particular characteristics and descriptions of a number of each style wine in each price range on the wine list. They must know the cocktails served at and prepared at the bar, the correct method of ordering the drinks, and the accompanying garnishes.
· Checks: Food Server is responsible for accurately processing all food and beverage orders using the computer and manual system if required. They must review the presented guest check for additions, omissions, voids, and pricing. The Food Server carries a $40 minimum personal bank and is accountable for all cash and credit card sales collected.
· Guest Relations: Food Server anticipates guests’ needs and acknowledges the guest even when busy; constantly strives to give excellent, friendly and genuine service; greets guests arriving at their station promptly and always thanks all departing guests and bids them a pleasant day/evening.
· Work Station: Food Server maintains a neat and orderly workstation and knows proper maintenance and use of all tools and equipment (e.g. wine openers) and uses them only as intended.
· Teamwork: Food Server works with and assists other staff.
· Sidework: Food Server is responsible for assigned sidework such as stocking service ware, folding napkins, polishing silverware, which must be completed prior to opening, during service, and after closing.
· Service Handbook: Food Server is thoroughly familiar with and complies with guidelines specified in the Service Handbook.
· Meetings: Food Server attends periodic meetings as called by management such as wine seminars and Service meetings, and all other work-related
· duties as assigned by management
· All other duties as assigned
Requirements
· Must be at least 18 years old
· Ability to work a flexible schedule: days, nights, and/or weekends
Preferred Skills
· Previous Server experience in a high-end restaurant
