What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at Brewer Morris?
I’m partnered with a Global Manufacturer, on a new Senior Accountant role. This role is a diverse scope role with a blend of general accounting, fixed assets and some indirect tax.
Experience with sales & use tax, or fixed assets is a preference in addition to a strong accounting foundation, but they are 100% ready to train on these skills for the right candidate open to learning and expanding their skillset! This role will be 80% focused on general accounting in the long run
Role Summary
This position plays a key role in supporting month-end close, and contributing to audit and compliance efforts, while assisting with sales & use tax processes (20-25%). You’ll collaborate cross-functionally gaining exposure across broader accounting operations and indirect taxation
Key Responsibilities
- Support month-end close with journal entries and account reconciliations
- Maintain fixed assets and depreciation schedules
- Assist with financial audits, compliance reporting, and regulatory filings
- Manage sales & use tax activities including rate setup, filings, reconciliations, and third-party coordination
- Contribute to special projects and research related to state compliance and accounting issues
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (advanced education a plus)
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Solid understanding of GAAP and accounting systems (JD Edwards huge plus!) and tools Avalara and/or Vertex
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Experience with sales-use tax, and/or fixed assets is a preference/plus
