Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on HVAC systems, including refrigeration, boilers, electrical systems, and mechanical components using schematics and technical manuals.
- Install new HVAC equipment, ensuring adherence to design specifications, safety standards, and building codes.
- Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) systems to optimize efficiency and longevity.
- Troubleshoot electrical diagnostics and mechanical systems repair issues using tools such as ohmmeters and hand tools.
- Interpret schematics and HVAC design plans to accurately execute system modifications or upgrades.
- Collaborate with property maintenance teams to coordinate system repairs and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Provide exceptional customer service by explaining technical issues clearly and recommending solutions that meet client needs.
- Maintain detailed service records, reports, and logs for all performed work to ensure compliance and quality assurance.
- Operate a company van safely as a designated driver while managing field service appointments efficiently.
- Assist in the training of junior technicians when required, sharing expertise in HVAC system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a service technician with construction experience preferred; strong background in HVAC system repair is essential.
- Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems including refrigeration, boilers, electrical diagnostics, plumbing, building automation systems, and ammonia refrigeration is highly desirable.
- Ability to read schematics, technical manuals, and HVAC design plans accurately.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience using hand tools and diagnostic equipment such as ohmmeters.
- Demonstrated skill in equipment troubleshooting, HVAC system installation, maintenance, and repair across various mechanical systems.
- Valid EPA certification for refrigerants; additional certifications in electrical systems or appliance repair are advantageous.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
- Experience working with electrical systems, mechanical systems repair, boiler operation, property maintenance or field service roles is beneficial.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments while maintaining safety standards.
