What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Specialist position at Brevard County Sheriff's Office?
The purpose of this class is to maintain inventory and stock of agency items and to issue the necessary equipment as required. This class is responsible for delivery of inter-agency mail, packages, supplies, personal equipment, and maintaining inventory and stock. Works according to standard procedures; decides how and when to do things under general supervision.
The tasks below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Employee's may work indoors or outdoors and travel to multiple locations to complete various required job tasks.
Employees may have contact with inmates
Employees may have contract with firearms
Work is mainly performed during normal business hours (Monday - Friday 7am-5pm) with fluctuations required to meet operational needs. Occasional overtime may be required.
May be required to work in the event of an emergency or natural disaster.

- Operates various department vehicles to include van, heavy equipment, delivery truck and forklift.
- Orders, stocks and maintains agency supplies
- Delivers, picks up and receives equipment, parts and supplies from various personnel, precincts, and businesses throughout the County and Central Florida, as required.
- Loads and unloads shipments and supplies throughout the day.
- Maintains inventory records for accountability and audit tracking of public funds.
- Produces and maintains inventory of forms, documents and awards.
- Interacts with vendors for obtaining pricing and placing orders.
- Performs audit of stock on hand periodically to ensure accuracy of inventory records and accountability of Department.
- Maintains agency equipment,
- Sort departmental mail and packages for distribution.
- Delivers and picks up mail, packages, and property to designated departments of the Sheriff's Office along established County route.
- Provides emergency disaster relief providing food, water, equipment and supplies to agency personnel required to work during the emergency, disaster, or tactical operation.
- Performs routine office tasks such as data entry, typing, filing, faxing, telephoning and copying.
- Regular, dependable and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job.
- Requires High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid Florida Driver’s License (must be maintained through employment))
- Prefer experience working in a warehouse environment.
- Public Safety or Military Logistics experience a plus.
- Prefer experience in transportation and delivery of supplies and equipment
- Preferred candidates will have experience operating heavy warehouse equipment such as forklifts and delivery trucks.
- This position requires successful completion of Sheriff's Office medical certification.
