Brethren Village Retirement Community, in Lititz, PA, is seeking an experienced Chef Supervisor for full-time employment.

Brethren Village offers our Chefs an extra $1.00 per hour for weekend work, no late night work hours, every other weekend and holiday off, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Successful applicants will have at least 4 years of professional experience as a Chef, plus experience overseeing or supervising dining staff.

• proactively assists Dining Managers to coordinate meal service for our Residents; coordinate and oversee related dining operations; and assist with catered campus events
• trains, guides, and supervises assigned Dining staff
• prepares meals for Residents, Team Members, and other dining guests; proposes new and creative menu items; prepares food for fine-dining and catered functions

Work Schedule:

Applicants must be able to work every other Saturday, Sunday, and holiday, and during the week.

• Full-time, benefits-eligible: 40 hours per week; morning, daytime, and/or early evening hours; work days and hours may vary and include some Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Core Requirements:

• a high school diploma or G.E.D.
• dependability: ability and willingness to meet attendance standards
• basic computer skills: the ability to access and navigate web sites, and use applications and databases independently
• the ability to read and to complete online training independently
• commitment to consistently working in a safe and hygienic manner, wearing protective equipment as required for the position, and adhering to all health and safety standards
• the ability and willingness to interact in a professional and friendly manner with colleagues
• the ability to provide exceptional service to others
• ability and willingness to represent Brethren Village and carry out responsibilities in a manner aligned with our core values of caring, integrity, stewardship, and excellence

Additional Requirements for This Position:

• at least 4 years of experience as a Chef at a restaurant, hotel, university, healthcare facility, or similar organization
• a valid Dietary Manager Certification (CDM) or willingness to obtain
• experience coordinating or managing a function, program, department, or events
• experience overseeing or supervising staff; ability and willingness to effectively train, guide, direct, and supervise staff members
• ability to effectively plan and coordinate dining services for large events, and coordinate the work of others to meet objectives
• knowledge and experience with various food preparation techniques, tools, and equipment
• the ability to read and carefully follow recipes and food preparation schedules; for our supportive living Residents, the ability to carefully follow prescribed recipes and diets
• knowledge of safe food handling regulations - a food safety / "ServSafe" certificate; ability and willingness to consistently adhere to all Brethren Village protocols and sound food-safety practices
• ability to remain calm and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• the ability to stand during an 8-hour shift; to walk frequently; and to lift and carry 25 lbs. on a routine basis
• ability and willingness to work every other Saturday, Sunday, and holiday
