Paint Coatings Engineer – Brembo Disc (Homer, Michigan)
Full‑Time • On‑Site • Relocation Required prior to Start
We’re hiring a Paint Coatings Engineer to join our team in Homer, MI and support the continued growth of our coating's operations at Brembo Disc Manufacturing. In this role, you’ll oversee the planning and execution of coating‑related manufacturing processes, driving improvements through your knowledge of product design, materials, tooling, and production equipment. You’ll collaborate closely with Co‑ops, Maintenance, and Quality to ensure smooth operations and consistent process performance. This is a hands‑on engineering position where you’ll lead process optimization, support daily production needs, and manage new program launches that directly influence the performance and quality of Brembo products used worldwide.
What You’ll Do
- Lead new program launches from design through SOP — layouts, capital, equipment programming, setup, and training.
- Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot coating and surface‑treatment processes to hit KPIs (TRS, scrap, capability, rework).
- Support operators and technicians with root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Partner with Maintenance, Quality, and Production to solve cross‑functional issues.
- Create and maintain clear process documentation, operator instructions, and tooling standards.
- Apply GD&T and engineering fundamentals to ensure product and process accuracy.
What You Bring
- Experience with automated coating systems (robotic spray, powder, liquid, electrostatic).
- Knowledge of pretreatment processes (phosphate, blasting, washing).
- Understanding of paint chemistry and coating performance.
- Ability to run DOE, capability studies, and process validation.
- Familiarity with PFMEA, control plans, APQP, and automotive quality systems.
- Strong communication skills and a hands‑on, production‑floor mindset.

- Automotive Tier‑1/Tier‑2 experience
- High‑volume manufacturing
- Launching new coating lines or equipment
- OEM customer exposure (GM, Ford, Stellantis)
- Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen experience
