Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Legal Assistant role based in Brainerd, MN. The Legal Assistant will support attorneys with day-to-day case management, including organizing files, maintaining calendars, scheduling meetings and court dates, and managing correspondence. Responsibilities include preparing, formatting, and proofreading legal documents, filings, and forms, as well as collecting, organizing, and updating case information and client records. The role involves communicating with clients, courts, and other parties by phone, email, and in person, while ensuring timely responses and professional interactions. The Legal Assistant will also perform general administrative tasks such as data entry, document scanning, and office support to help keep the practice running smoothly.
Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of law and legal procedures, with experience or training relevant to working in a law firm or legal setting.
- Proficiency in legal document preparation, including drafting, formatting, reviewing, and organizing legal documents and forms.
- Strong communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication with clients, attorneys, court staff, and other stakeholders.
- Administrative assistance capabilities such as scheduling, file management (paper and electronic), data entry, and general office support.
- Experience working as a legal assistant or in a similar legal support role, demonstrating reliability, discretion, and professionalism.
- High level of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Comfort with common office and legal software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, case management or practice management systems).
