JOB TITLE: Assistant Coach
SUPERVISOR: Principal
BASIC FUNCTION: To assist in organizing and coordinating the assigned athletic team and to help participants appreciate the values of discipline and sportsmanship
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Assists in organizing and supervising practices
- Assists in teaching individual fundamental skills, team play, team strategy and rules and regulations
- Teaches good sportsmanship and self-control
- Assists in checking eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent
- Provides students a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance
- Demonstrates loyalty, dedication, and a positive attitude toward the mission and goals of the Breckinridge County Schools
- Is punctual and prepared for immediate assumption of duties upon arrival at athletic events
- Assumes responsibilities of other duties relating to special athletic events
- Performs other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Fundamentals of various athletic programs
- Health and safety regulations
- KHSAA rules, regulations, and guidelines
- Organization and planning methods, trends, techniques, and practices
- District athletic and extracurricular policies and procedures
ABILITIES:
- Understands and follows oral and written directions.
- Reads, interprets, applies and explains rules, regulations, policies and procedures
- Plans, coordinates, and manages various school athletic programs
- Understands and carries out oral and written directions
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must possess a valid Kentucky driver's license
- Has met the requirements for criminal records check and child abuse and neglect check as specified by Kentucky State Law
- One of the following: minimum of 64 semester hours from an accredited college or university, passed the paraeducator exam, or previous school coaching experience
- Ability to work effectively with students and parents
