Job Title: Outreach Advocate


Reports To: Regional Advocacy Manager


FLSA Status: Non-exempt


Summary: The Outreach Advocate focuses on conducting outreach efforts to identify and assist

potential victims of sex trafficking, as well as providing information and support to at-risk

individuals and the public. This position involves building relationships with diverse communities, educating about the dangers of sex trafficking, and connecting survivors and at-risk individuals to our organization's support services.


Duties and Responsibilities:


· Plan and implement outreach initiatives to raise awareness about sex trafficking, its signs, and prevention strategies.

· Conduct presentations, workshops, and training sessions in schools, community centers, faith-based institutions, and other venues to educate individuals about the risks and tactics used by traffickers.

· Collaborate with the communications team to create compelling content for outreach campaigns, including social media posts, flyers, and informational brochures.

· Work proactively to identify potential victims of sex trafficking within the community.

· Engage with individuals in high-risk environments and build trust-based relationships to offer support and resources.

· Provide immediate assistance and crisis intervention to individuals who may be in exploitative situations, connecting them with appropriate services and support.

· Collaborate with law enforcement and partner organizations to ensure a coordinated response to potential trafficking cases.

· Support survivors of sex trafficking by providing trauma-informed care and connecting them with comprehensive support services.

· Act as a liaison between survivors and the organization's case management team to facilitate their access to housing, counseling, legal assistance, and other needed resources.

· Participate in community meetings, coalitions, and task forces related to human trafficking to share information, collaborate on strategies, and advocate for policy changes.

· Document all outreach activities, victim interactions, and assistance provided in a timely and accurate manner and contribute to the data collection efforts by providing relevant information for program evaluation and reporting purposes.

· Prepare regular reports on outreach activities, outcomes, and challenges for internal and external stakeholders.

Language Ability:


Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Ability to articulate ideas, plans of

advocacy and outreach efforts, and resource options clearly and persuasively. Proficiency in additional languages is extremely desirable in this position.


Reasoning Ability:


Strong reasoning ability, such as communication, adaptability, time management, and attention to detail enables the Outreach Advocate to approach advocacy efforts with a logical and creative mindset, resulting in effective engagement with the survivors resulting in overall performance in their role.


Computer Skills:


To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

including Excel and should be proficient at communication via email.


Education/Experience:


A college degree is not required, however an associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field is

highly valued. An advanced degree is a plus, however commitment to continuous professional

development and ongoing learning are essential.


Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:


· Empathy due to the sensitive nature of our work

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively present information to groups of various sizes and backgrounds

· Proven experience in community outreach, social services, or a similar role, preferably in the field of human trafficking or related social justice issues

· Knowledge of sex trafficking issues, victim identification, and trauma-informed care principles

· Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse individuals and communities

· Cultural competency and sensitivity to work with individuals from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds

· Empathetic and compassionate approach to working with vulnerable individuals

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time management skills

· Familiarity with local community resources, social service agencies, and support networks

· Respect for confidentiality and adherence to ethical guidelines in working with potential victims and survivors of sex trafficking

The role of the Outreach Advocate involves both physical and intellectual responsibilities, such as spending a significant amount of time working at a desk or in meetings with survivors, which can require extended periods of sitting, screen time, and time in meetings therefore necessitating prolonged face-to-face interaction with others. The Outreach Advocate should also be capable of traveling between our primary office, encampments, outreach events, and other out-of-office locations.
