What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coffee Machine Technician position at Break Coffee?
**Please be ready to commit to this job for at least 2 years before applying and you must live within a 15 minute subway ride to Manhattan if not in Manhattan.**
First, here are some key characteristics we're looking for....It's extremely important that you have an outgoing, socially comfortable personality. If that's not you, please don't apply. You'll be interacting with clients in offices regularly so being professional, friendly, and communicating clearly and confidently is very important. Eventually you'll have the opportunity to work events where you'll demo the machine for potential clients so experience in sales or natural sales skills is a plus. You'll also occasionally have to transport 40lb bulky coffee machine in cabs and then lift them up onto the counter to install so a certain amount of strength is required. Heavy appliance repair skills aren't necessary but being handy would be great and being passionate and knowledgeable about coffee is a big plus. Living in Manhattan is ideal but nearby borough also ok as long as the train ride isn't more than 15 minutes for the occasional unscheduled client visit.
A Service Technician at Break Coffee is primarily responsible for servicing coffee clients on a weekly basis in addition to occasionally transporting and installing machines. Customer locations are in Manhattan as well as residential buildings and other various locations. Service Technicians are also responsible for maintaining adequate and accurate parts inventory and scheduling their servicing week to ensure each and very client is serviced. Work hours are Monday through Friday, during the day though all servicing should be able to be completed within 3 days but availability on other days is appreciated if possible for random client visits and machine swaps.
Responsibilities
· Perform scheduled and unscheduled service activities including emergency service calls, preventative maintenance, surveys and installations
· Maintain spare part levels and reorders within replenishment guidelines
· Responsible for all documentation and activity verification required by the Company, including product count procedure and daily activities sheet
· Provide customer feedback/requests to management or to other departments.
· Other duties as assigned.
Compensation and Benefits
Payment will be $25 for each machine serviced, which, when broken down hourly, usually winds up being around $32/hr. There will be a set rate for machine swaps as well and installations which I haven't figured out just yet. For now, there will be about 10-15 machines to service and a few swaps and random visits so it will probably pay around $1500-$2000 with payment increasing as I quickly grow.
