Position Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and directing production operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely manufacture of high-quality baked goods. This role oversees daily production activities, develops team members, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The Production Supervisor serves as a key leader in fostering a culture of safety, accountability, engagement, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide leadership, coaching, training, and development for production associates and team coordinators.
- Foster a culture of safety, inclusion, engagement, and accountability.
- Identify and develop future leaders within the production team.
- Provide input on staffing requirements and participate in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding candidates.
- Seek guidance from appropriate leadership on critical or complex situations while independently managing day-to-day operational issues.
- Regularly communicate performance results, expectations, and operational priorities to team members.
Production Operations
- Execute production schedules to ensure on-time delivery of products in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Monitor and adjust labor resources to balance staffing levels, productivity, and overtime costs.
- Ensure compliance with work instructions, product specifications, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Lead by example to ensure the safe production of high-quality products that meet company, customer, and regulatory standards.
- Provide detailed shift summaries and operational updates to leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Implement tactical plans and communicate initiatives to gain team alignment and support.
Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment through adherence to safety policies and procedures.
- Process and document all workplace injuries according to company protocols.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and employment laws.
- Maintain quality standards and ensure products consistently meet customer expectations.
Continuous Improvement & Performance Management
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through the use of Lean Manufacturing tools, 5S methodologies, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Track, analyze, and report production performance data against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Identify operational improvement opportunities and implement corrective actions to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency.
- Utilize data and analytical tools to support decision-making and operational improvements.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Operations Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 2–5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing or high-speed production environment.
- Food manufacturing or bakery production experience preferred.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and 5S methodologies strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ERP/MRP systems.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team development skills with a focus on accountability and performance.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of employment laws, EEOC requirements, and industry compliance standards.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and rotating schedules as business needs require.
- Ability to work in varying temperature conditions ranging from -20°F to 100°F, with typical conditions between 65°F and 85°F.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
