Summer (May - August) Program Support Specialist
Position: Program Support Specialist
Location: Brave Warriors NCW Center – Wenatchee, WA
Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week (weekdays, evenings and weekends)
Compensation: $20/hour – Non-exempt, No Benefits
Position Summary:
The Program Support Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of Brave Warriors NCW programs for children, youth, and adults with disabilities and chronic medical conditions. This role provides direct support during respite, enrichment, social, and recreation programs by facilitating activities, assisting with participant needs, promoting safety, encouraging independence, and helping maintain a warm, inclusive environment.
This position requires compassion, patience, strong communication skills, and the ability to support individuals across a wide range of ages and support needs.
Essential Functions:
- Support and engage participants in a variety of recreational, social skills, life-skills, enrichment, and community activities.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide individualized support to children and adults during activities, transitions, and routines.
- Assist learners with bathroom and hygiene needs as appropriate.
- Maintain learners safety at all times, including during community outings.
- Assist in creating a friendly, supportive, and inclusive environment by promoting positive behavior strategies and learner connection.
- Build appropriate, stable, and consistent relationships with learners and families/caregivers while respecting confidentiality.
- Serve as a role model for learners, volunteers, interns, and peers.
- Prepare and serve healthy snacks while honoring dietary restrictions and safety protocols.
- Support social-emotional learning, communication, self-regulation, and independence-building activities.
- Communicate program needs, observations, and concerns to the Program Manager in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications:
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or special healthcare needs
- Self-motivated, responsible, cheerful, creative, and efficient with time management
- Bilingual
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with children/youth/adults with disabilities or chronic medical conditions
- Ability to meet the physical, emotional, and safety demands of the role
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Current (or willingness to obtain): CPR/First Aid Certification, QBS Safety Care Certification
- Successful Washington State background check (per RCW 43.43.830)
- No history of crimes against individuals or child abuse
Preferred
- Experience in community programs, recreation, education, ABA support, teaching, or caregiver roles
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
- Basic computer literacy (email, simple documentation)

Work is performed on-site at Brave Warriors NCW Center. This position requires physical activity, including assisting with mobility and personal care, preparing materials, and maintaining participant engagement.
