Position Summary
The Dishwasher keeps the kitchen running smoothly by cleaning and sanitizing dishware, glassware, utensils, cookware, and equipment, while maintaining a clean and organized dish area. This role is essential to food safety, service speed, and overall kitchen operations.
Pay for this position starts at $17/hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash, sanitize, and dry dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, and kitchen tools.
- Operate and maintain the commercial dishwashing machine per manufacturer and safety guidelines.
- Sort and stack clean items; return them to proper stations promptly.
- Keep the dish pit, sinks, and surrounding areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Empty and take out trash and recycling; break down boxes.
- Sweep and mop kitchen floors, clean restrooms as needed.
- Assist with basic food prep and restocking during downtime as directed.
- Report broken equipment, low supplies (soap, sanitizer), or safety issues to management.
- Follow all health, sanitation, and safety standards.
Work Requirements
- No prior experience required — entry-level candidates welcome; kitchen experience a plus.
- Strong work ethic and sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Basic understanding of sanitation and safety practices.
- Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for the entire shift (6–10 hrs).
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs (dish racks, stock pots, trash, supply cases).
- Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and twisting.
- Repetitive hand and arm motions (scrubbing, loading, unloading).
- Work with hands in water for extended periods.
- Tolerate hot, humid conditions near the dish machine and varied temperatures (kitchen heat, walk-in coolers).
- Withstand exposure to cleaning chemicals and sanitizers (PPE provided).
- Manual dexterity and coordination for safe handling of dishware and equipment.
