Position Summary
The Prep Cook prepares ingredients and components ahead of service, ensuring the kitchen is stocked, organized, and ready to execute the menu efficiently and to quality standards.
Pay for this position starts at $18/hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash, peel, cut, portion, and prepare ingredients per recipes/prep lists.
- Prepare sauces, dressings, marinades, and bases.
- Label, date, and properly store all prepped items (FIFO).
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized prep station.
- Monitor inventory and notify management of low stock.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards.
- Assist line cooks during service as needed.
Work Requirements
- [Prior kitchen/prep experience preferred] — entry-level applicants considered.
- Knife skills and familiarity with kitchen equipment.
- Ability to follow recipes and prep lists accurately.
- Strong time management and attention to detail.
- Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for the entire shift (6–10 hrs).
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs (boxes, stock pots, ingredient cases).
- Repetitive motions (chopping, stirring, portioning).
- Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Tolerate hot kitchen environments and cold storage areas.
- Manual dexterity for safe knife and equipment handling.
