Overview
The Mold Set Technician is responsible for supporting production operations through machine changeovers, equipment start-up and shutdown, and ongoing production monitoring. This role assists with mold maintenance, tooling organization, and basic processing support while ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is a dependable team player with strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Duties
- Demonstrate safe work practices and comply with all company safety and quality policies and procedures.
- Organize, label, and document mold locations and repair status.
- Generate work order requests for tooling and equipment maintenance.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on molds and tooling.
- Complete basic mechanical tasks including drilling, tapping, and thread cleaning.
- Perform entry-level maintenance and repairs such as replacing water lines, cleaning screens, sandblasting molds, acid flushing water lines, and flow testing water circuits.
- Calibrate blenders, make program and batch setting adjustments, and set proximity sensors.
- Enter and maintain process parameters on molding presses.
- Assist with mold sampling and engineering change orders (ECOs).
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to mold change procedures.
- Operate equipment including mobile die carts and forklifts.
- Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with maintenance and production teams.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Previous mechanical or related hands-on experience required.
- Experience in plastics manufacturing or mold setting.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to reach, stretch, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive physical movements throughout the workday.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Commitment to workplace safety and ability to follow safe work practices while handling heavy molds and equipment.
- Basic understanding of molding processes and entry-level processing knowledge preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and complete basic repairs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
