You already know how to lead. We’ll teach you the diamonds.

Braswell & Son has been family owned since 1979. We started as one small jewelry store in Little Rock and grew into eight luxury pawn stores across Arkansas and Tennessee. We are still growing, and we promote from within whenever we can.

That’s why this job exists. We need our next Store Managers, and we’d rather build them than borrow them.

Store Manager in Training is a real job with a real paycheck. It’s not an unpaid audition. You’ll be paid hourly from day one, earn commission and bonuses like everyone else on the floor, and follow a structured path to Assistant Store Manager and then Store Manager.

What We Mean By “leader”

A title doesn’t make you a leader. Plenty of people have been “team lead” for a year and never had to make a hard call. We’re looking for someone who has carried real weight.

You’ve led a team of at least five people for three years or more. It might have been a retail floor, a restaurant, a bank branch, a warehouse crew, a call center, a hotel, or a unit in the military. The industry doesn’t matter. What matters is that you’ve done these things yourself:

  • Built a team. You’ve had a say in who got hired, trained them, and kept them.
  • Coached someone into being better. Not just told them what to do. You got them there.
  • Owned a number and hit it. Sales, service scores, shrink, labor, throughput. Something you answered for every week.
  • Had the hard conversation. You’ve written the coaching note, delivered the tough feedback, and kept the record. You know accountability is a form of respect.
  • Turned something around. An underperforming shift, a struggling coworker, a department in a rut. You left it better than you found it.
  • Made the call with no one to ask. The boss was off, something went sideways, and you handled it.

This job is not for you if…

  • You want to manage people but haven’t had to hold them accountable yet.
  • You’d rather be liked than respected.
  • You need a fixed Monday-through-Friday schedule.
  • You want to stay in the office. Our leaders lead from the floor.

How we lead at Braswell & Son

Our values aren’t a poster. They’re how we expect our leaders to show up every day:

  • Excellence: You set the standard and you model it first.
  • Passion: You care about the work, the customer, and the people on your team.
  • Integrity: You do the right thing when no one’s watching, especially with cash, inventory, and loans.
  • Initiative: You see the problem and fix it before someone has to ask.
  • Community: You show up for your team and for the neighborhoods we serve.

What you’ll learn

Luxury pawn is a genuinely interesting business, and most people have never seen the inside of it. You’ll learn to:

  • Test gold, grade diamonds, authenticate designer handbags, and spot a real Rolex from a good fake.
  • Write quality pawn loans and make smart forfeit decisions that protect the store’s profit.
  • Coach selling behaviors on the floor and pawn process in the back room.
  • Read a daily report and a monthly P&L, and know what actually moves them.
  • Build a schedule that balances coverage, payroll, and room for people to grow.
  • Run opening, closing, cash handling, and store security as a key carrier.
  • Plan store events and show up for our community.

You do not need pawn or jewelry experience. We’ll teach you all of it.

What You’ll Actually Do

This isn’t a shadowing program. You’ll be on the floor with customers from week one, carrying goals, and taking on leadership as you’re ready. You’ll help coach the team, run shifts, and own results. By the end, you should be able to run the store on a day the Store Manager isn’t there.

Pay And Benefits

  • $18.00–$22.00 per hour, plus commission and bonus opportunities. Base pay depends on experience. Paid weekly by direct deposit.
  • Commission on eligible sales in any week you hit your sales goal.
  • Weekly productivity bonus when you hit your productivity goal.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • PTO and 401(k)
  • Coworker discount, gym membership, and tuition reimbursement

This is an hourly, non-exempt position. Hours over 40 in a week are paid at time and a half.

Why people stay

  • Family owned since 1979 and still growing. We’re opening stores, not closing them.
  • A paycheck every Friday. Not twice a month. Every Friday.
  • We promote from within. Our managers came up through these stores.
  • Small teams. You’ll know everyone you work with, and they’ll know you.
  • We show up for each other and our community. Ask us about it in the interview.

What the job requires

  • Three or more years leading a team of five or more people, with direct responsibility for their performance and results
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 18 years or older
  • Able to pass a background check and drug screen that meet our standards and applicable law
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to Little Rock, AR for scheduled training
  • Able to stand and move for long periods and lift and move merchandise, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Spanish/English bilingual is a plus, not a requirement
