What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Engagement Manager - Multi Area position at Brandywine Valley SPCA?
The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for managing the Community Engagement Coordinators across Pennsylvania and Delaware. They will oversee the BVSPCA’s efforts to engage the community through volunteering, youth programs, and events of a variety of types (outreach, adoptions, fundraising, etc.). They will guide and support the team in the planning and execution of community outreach activities. They will collaborate with and support the Director of Community Engagement in the creation and implementation of programs and procedures.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Managerial Responsibilities
- Provides direction, management, support, and guidance to Community Engagement Coordinators.
- Collaborates with Director on goals and works with Community Engagement Coordinators to achieve them.
- Collaborates with Director to increase efficacy of department and impact of programs, ensuring alignment on goals, priorities, and timelines.
Program & Event Oversight
- Audit events, programs, and organizational initiatives to ensure standards are met; provide feedback and corrective action as needed.
- Ensure timely, quality execution of programs and events. Leveraging the organization positive experience to cultivate new community partnerships.
- Strengthen volunteer recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies in collaboration with the Director of Community Engagement, ensuring effective implementation through the Community Engagement Coordinators.
- Oversee volunteer, community support, and youth programming across campuses, maintaining consistent quality and alignment with organizational goals.
- Assists with the planning and implementation of fundraising, signature, and adoption events as deemed appropriate.
- Manages volunteer program for the Lancaster campus and supports Operational team in New Jersey volunteer program.
Collaborative Efforts
- Provides quality customer service to clients, volunteers, and staff while actively promoting our mission, services, programs and events
- Identifies leads for individual and corporate donors through community events and hands off promising relationships to the Director of Community Engagement
- Collaborates with other departments to provide support and achieve common goals
- Other duties as assigned
Professional Representation
- Represent BVSPCA with professionalism in the community, building and maintaining positive relationships with volunteers, the public, and key community partners and stakeholders.
- Support organizational signature events and initiatives to enhance visibility and strengthen our connection with the community.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
- Minimum of bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in public relations/community relations, education or equivalent degree;
- Minimum three years’ experience in customer service, event planning or volunteer management.
- Minimum of one-year supervisory experience preferred.
- Proven public speaking and project management experience.
- Proven writing ability and ability to coordinate events/programs.
- Proven skill in interacting with all age groups.
- Animal/Environmental welfare experience is helpful.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proven and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of volunteer program coordination and event planning.
- Confident public speaker.
- Proficient with computers.
- Interest and knowledge of animal welfare related issues preferred.
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations aimed at various age groups.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to use sound judgment when dealing with volunteers, clients, animal-related concerns and confidential information.
- Knowledge of animal breed, behavior, and handling helpful.
- Self-motivated and able to initiate and complete tasks.
Other:
- Must be at least 21 years of age (required for insurance purposes)
- Valid Driver’s License and insurable driving record
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment:
- Shared office space.
- Exposure to animals.
- Potential exposure to zoonotic diseases, animal bites and scratches.
- Exposure to high noise levels when in kennels.
- Work may be performed outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions.
Physical Activities:
- Able to drive, stand, bend, squat, walk, and talk for up to eight hours a day.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to work a flexible schedule with regular weekend and evening shifts.
