Brandeis University is looking for a Custodian in Facilities Department.
Essential Job Functions:
- Clean, strip, polish building surfaces as directed.
- Read, understand and carry out simple instructions in English.
- Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with supervisors, fellow workers, department heads and other members of the campus community.
- Follow simple oral instructions in English.
- Work in an environment subject to frequently changing priorities and from individuals and time deadlines.
- Bend, stoop, lift and move furniture, shovel snow and remove trash weighing 30 pounds.
- Work either independently or in a project team setting.
- Organize responsibilities and tasks.
- Receive and ship packages, luggage and supplies.
- Set up rooms for conferences, lectures, and special events.
- Respond to and clean up after emergencies and disasters.
- Assist in the security and protection of facilities to include locking and unlocking exterior and interior doors.

Floor buffers, vacuums of all types, wet/vacuums, automatic walk-behind and riding floor scrubbers, pressure washers, 44 gallon trash containers, snow shovels, ice chippers, brooms, mops, pails with ringers, chemicals including but not limited to: ammonia, bleach, germicide/disinfectant, floor stripper, wax, ice melt, and metal polish.
